Au Marche - 10th Anniversary Celebratio

Since 2004, the proceeds from the annual Mayor’s Au Marché have helped more than 1,800 St. Catharines children and youth take part in sports, recreation and cultural activities. The 10th annual event will be taking place on Friday, August 23 when Market Square will be transformed into a spectacular dining room showcasing amazing menu items, wines and beers from local restaurants, wineries and breweries.

“Au Marché was started to help break down the financial barriers and ensure children have equal access to extracurricular activities in our community, which are important to healthy development,” said St. Catharines Mayor Brian McMullan. “We are thankful for the overwhelming generosity of sponsors and supporters who have made this event such a success.”

“Au Marché has raised $204,245 since its inception for the Investing in St. Catharines Youth Fund, a fund held by the Niagara Community Foundation,” noted Sharon Borgmann, chair of this year’s event. A portion of the event proceeds are granted annually to local organizations who match children in need with sporting, cultural and recreational organizations. The balance of the proceeds has been endowed so that children every year can be helped.

Created in 2000, the Niagara Community Foundation has raised more than $21 million in endowment funds and has granted in excess of $5 million to charities working in the arts, heritage, environment, social services, health, education and community development.
