This fund was created in 2005 under the leadership of Foundation Board member Eric Gilbert with the assistance of a team of volunteers from Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln. It made sense to have one fund to serve all three communities as many agencies and charities are providing programs and services across the municipal borders. Since 2005 the three mayors agreed to co-host an annual golf tournament each August with half the proceeds given out to local charities selected by each mayor. Other donors have since opened funds within the Niagara West Fund, in support of a particular charity, a specific sector, such as the environment, or they advise us annually on where to target the proceeds from their fund.
Volunteers who are members of the Niagara West Fund Development Team include: Margaret Andrewes, Eric Gilbert, Wayne Fertich, Don Knechtel, Jim Merritt, and Wendy Rittenhouse.
